The Power of Wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5 | October 25, 2020

What are we trying to say when we tell someone that we are praying that God will give them wisdom?

  1. Does it seem like we are lacking wisdom today?

Proverbs 1:7; Proverbs 2:6; Proverbs 2:12; Proverbs 3:13 NIV; Proverbs 4:7 NIV; Daniel 2:21; Romans 11:33 NIV

Key passage: 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5 NIV (ERV too)

Thought: There is a ________________ that is generated by God’s power.

  • That power comes from the Holy Spirit

Praying for wisdom is asking the Holy Spirit to show forth his _____________ in our lives.

Wisdom is a power that can ________________.

Wisdom, the ________________ of the cross, is the power to save us from hell itself.

  1. 21 God was pleased…
  • The message of Christ seemed foolish to the world

My original thought: “I am praying that God will give you wisdom.”

  1. That you will walk in the power of the Holy Spirit in order to be able to show the foolishness of God’s message of love and forgiveness to the world
  2. That Jesus will be evident in your speech and conduct
  3. That you won’t buy into the wisdom of this world
    • It will lead you away from walking in God’s power
  1. That you will be bold in telling of the message of God
    • Christ is the true wisdom of God

Questions for the week.

  1. What do you need to do today to realign your life with the wisdom of God?
  2. In what areas of your life will you allow the power of God to work?
  3. Who is it that you need to share the message of Christ with this week?
