James 1:5 NIV God desires to reveal to us his will for our lives
1st Does my choice line up with God’s word
- Matthew 4:1-4 NCV If your choice violates God’s word, his given truth, then your answer has to be NO!
- You can’t violate God’s word and think he will bless you
- Psa. 119:11 NIV Allow your choices to be filtered through God’s word
2nd Allow God to call the shots in your life, not you
- Col. 3:15-17 NIV
3rd Will it cause me to grow in my walk with Christ
- 1 Cor. 10:23-24, 31 NIV Freedom is mine as long as I seek to honor God
God’s permissive will allows me to choose, so choose wisely.
- Ask, “Will it further God’s kingdom in my life”
- Ask, “Will Christ be glorified in my decision”
- Ask, “Will my testimony be enhanced or destroyed”
- Ask, “Is this the best for my life right now”
4th Will my choices be pleasing to my Savior
- Gal. 1:10 NCV
Our lives are meant to glorify Christ.
- Psa. 119:17-24 Msg Ask yourself this question, “Do my decisions reflect the truth that I am serving the Lord?”
- God will bless your choices as long as they are pleasing to him. James 4:3 TLB
5th Always seek godly advice
- Prov. 11:14 Msg; Psa. 1:1 NLV
Life-changing decisions are hard, get wise advice. Prov. 10:8 TLB
Make sure that those who you allow to speak into your life don’t have a track record of failures.
6th Will God, family or friends be embarrassed with your choices
- Hebrews 4:13 NCV; 1 Cor. 3:10-19 TLB; 2 Cor. 5:10 NIV
Our actions or decisions will reveal the truths of our heart.
- Our actions will be judged by our family, friends and yes, God himself
Conclusion
None of us make the right decision every time.
Don’t let your pride cause you to walk away from your bad decisions.
- Take responsibility for your actions; The ones that are wrong, seek God’s forgiveness and wisdom to correct them; Do what is right, no matter the consequences
Have the faith that God will walk with you through your corrections. Have the courage to right your wrongs. Deut. 30:19-20 TLB
