Ephesians 2:1-2
“What is sin?”
“What are transgressions?”
Sin
God’s glory is the standard by which we are to be measured.
Transgression (trespass) Show Bible project video: transgression
- To deviate from the right path
- To wander (from the truth)
- To break trust with God
Thought: Paul is telling the church in Ephesus that this is how they once were.
- Note: 2 Timothy 3:1-7 NIV
Sinfulness has a pattern that it follows.
- It is directed by a sinful leader
“Ruler of the kingdom of the air”
1st It has a Ruler/Prince
Note: He is not called a King
- That title belongs to Jesus alone (1 Timothy 6:13-16 NIV)
- This person is Satan (1 John 5:19 NIV)
2nd He has power
- Luke 4:5-7; Luke 13:15-17; 2 Corinthians 12:7-8 NIV
3rd He reigns
- Matthew 12:22-28; Matthew 9:32-34 NIV

- John 12:30-31; Ephesians 6:12 NIV
5th There is an end to his kingdom
- Romans 16:19-20; Revelations 20:7-10 NIV
Paul states that this was the past life of the Ephesian believers.
They escaped the power of Satan’s kingdom.
- Colossians 1:13-14; Acts 26:15-18 NIV
We too can escape the power and authority of Satan’s kingdom.
